The Charging Outpost, located in Groveland, California, offers a lounge area with complimentary books, merchandise browsing, and a 'make your own' trail mix station. Visitors can also enjoy free coffee, fill up their water bottles, and use the restrooms which are open 24/7.
The site, which originally housed a blacksmith shop in the 1870s, has been transformed into a modern charging facility that aims to enhance the overall travel experience. Rivian plans to open more Charging Outposts near national parks and high-traffic areas across the US in the future, with a focus on sustainability and customer experience.
As part of their network expansion, Rivian also aims to collaborate with other automakers to improve the accessibility and reliability of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The company's CEO, RJ Scaringe, has emphasized the importance of uptime and convenience for EV drivers, drawing inspiration from Tesla's successful Supercharger Network.
